Love like God wants you to

Tired of telling your spouse you’ll do the dishes but failing to follow through?

Wish you were better at expressing gratitude for your spouse’s love?

Feeling like you fail to live in the present when you try to spend quality time together?

Simple, Concrete, Actionable Goals

Think about the things that tend to upset your spouse or the things you wish you were better at. For Emmaus 90, we recommend making a list of 3-5 specific things that you want to commit to doing (or not doing) for 90 days. We suggest thinking about the different areas of married life when trying to come up with examples and selecting one discipline from each of the following:

  • Fasting for each other (from food or otherwise)

  • Doing more of something, such as expressing gratitude, being vulnerable, exercising, or going on dates

  • Doing less of something; ascetic practices include not leaving clothes on the floor, taking cold showers, reducing “noise” in your life from electronics or social media, refusing to complain, spending money only on necessities or things that bring your family closer to God.

  • Ask your spouse to choose something for you to commit to.
